Hospital staffing workflows needed, dynamic deployment instead of fixed allocation

Built a hospital staff deployment platform that used location, skillset, workload, and live operational data to move staff dynamically instead of keeping them fixed to one area.

Outcomes, the operational changes that mattered

The challenge

Keeping staff fixed in one location created bottlenecks in areas where demand shifted throughout the day. The hospital needed a better way to use real operational context, including skill coverage, current workload, and physical location, to deploy people where they could have the greatest impact.

The work

ByteByBit helped deliver a mobile application and supporting platform that assessed staff skillsets, live workload, and location signals to determine where people should be assigned across the hospital. Instead of static staffing patterns, the system enabled more responsive deployment based on changing operational need.

The solution combined React Native, React, Node, Express, Redis, queue-driven workflows, WebSockets, server-sent events, BLE, RFID, and GPS to support live communication between the field experience and the operational control layer.

The result

The platform improved discharge speed, increased operational efficiency, and reduced the number of staff required to maintain coverage by making better use of the team already in place. It turned workforce deployment into an active operational system rather than a static rota assumption.
